Senior Class Fundraiser
Please congratulate five of our HS Band Students for being nominated to represent Holton in this year’s MSBOA District 1 ALL STAR BAND! Elizabeth Stoll - Flute Jace Crosby - Clarinet Izzy Erickson - Bass Clarinet Jacob Bayne - Trumpet Gunnar Traxler - Tuba Randall Standridge, one of the biggest names in modern wind band and orchestral composition, will be coming to Michigan to conduct an honors band composed of 131 high school band students. Mr. Standridge, an Arkansas native with composition degrees from Arkansas State University, will lead the band on January 27th, 2025 at 7:00 PM at Big Rapids High School. Students were nominated by teachers from 23 schools in the surrounding area that roughly covers Cadillac to Shelby. The students will meet Mr. Standridge that morning for an all-day practice and conclude with a concert in the evening. Mr. Standridge's music is performed internationally. He has had numerous works performed at the prestigious Midwest Clinic as well as countless All-State band performances including Michigan's High School All-State Band on January 25th. In addition, Mr. Standridge's "unBroken Project," a musical initiative about mental health, has received widespread acclaim for its musical content and for providing opportunities to normalize discussions about mental health for music students and audiences. In addition to his career as a composer, Mr. Standridge is the owner and editor of Randall Standridge Music, LLC and Grand Mesa Marching. He is in high demand as an arranger/designer for the marching arts. The directors of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) District 1 would like to thank West Shore Community College for sponsoring Mr. Standridge, and we would also like to thank the Big Rapids Board of Education and Big Rapids Band Parent Association for hosting the event. We are incredibly excited for this opportunity for our students and we hope to have an excited and energetic audience for the performance on the 27th!
